Embossing Extra

This workshop was all about doing more with your embossing folders by adding ink to create fantastic card backgrounds.  Three very different cards but perfect for so many occasions.  If I had to pick a favourite, I think it would be the cup and saucer - it's such a cute card, and any friend would love to receive it.

The embossing folders used are all Stampin' Up! Dynamic Textured Impressions folders, and as you can see they give a wonderfully deep and detailed embossed design.  You'll need your BigShot and only one plate for these though, because they are super duper thick and chunky.

I based the cards around the same Crumb Cake colour scheme, and everyone added their preferred colours to the centre card.  All turned out beautifully, and were surprisingly quick to make.

Mother's Day UK

Did you see the Brushos workshop we did earlier this year?  Well I had some of the gorgeous paper left so I used it to make this year's Mother's Day card (from a design by my clever friend at Blue Rose Paper Treasures).  It'll be off to the UK on Monday.  And there's no chance of spoiling the surprise, because at 94 my mum doesn't know how to find things on the internet - but she can Facetime on her iPad, which is just wonderful.

If you want to know what products you need to make cards like this, check out the product list on my earlier post.  Just click on any item, or click the SHOP NOW link above if you would like to get the supplies to make your own.

Such a great technique, and every single piece of paper you create will be different.  I'm a big Brushos fan, because the little crystals let me make my own quirky and original papers to die cut.

Black Ice

Shiny, streaky, sparkly and stunning - these cards are made using the black ice technique to give fabulous results using black ink with a variety of stamps and embossing folders.

Teamed with vivid colours against black backgrounds, they are really eye catching.

In the close ups, one card was finished using clear embossing powder, the other one using glittery embossing powder.  Two different finishes, but both equally gorgeous.

You can use almost any stamp set with this technique, but embossing folders are best with a specific central element to show it off.

It's easier than you think - a great fun technique.

Gone fishing, or just enjoying the view

This week we were at the lake doing some fishing and bird watching.  It's easy to use one style of card for two completely different recipients.  It's always difficult making cards for the menfolk, and these fitted the bill wonderfully.  My favourite element is that cute little goldfish swimming in the lake 😄

We mostly used 2 sets to create these cards.  Everyone added their own little touches, like different coloured water lilies and fish, and alternative sentiments.  But that meant everyone made cards that they can use for their own personal upcoming celebrations.
